Queen of the Paua Beadwoven Wearable Art Necklace and Earrings Set

$147.00

Description

The center of this necklace is made up of pieces of Paua shells and is double sided.  It is ‘flashy’ and elegant at the same time!!  Just think of all the colors you can wear it with!! Matching earrings tie the whole look together!!  All findings are STERLING SILVER and will wear for years!

Pāua is the Māori name given to three species of large edible sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs which belong to the family Haliotidae (in which there is only one genus, Haliotis), known in the United States and Australia as abalone, and in the United Kingdom as ormer shells. Pāua or paua has entered English through common use in the New Zealand English dialect, and is both singular and plural, following the grammar rules of its original language.

This set took over 14 hours to complete. I used peyote stitch and herringbone stitch to complete it. The center is made without the use of GLUE or BACKING. The center sets inside beads that are between 11o and 15o (this means there are between 11 – 15 beads per inch).

Necklace measures at 17.5 – 19 inches in length and can be lengthened if needed. Center hangs down 2 inches from top of strap.

Earrings measure 1.5 inches and can be changed to clicp-on’s or posts for no additional charge.
